Tackling Picky Eaters (Not Literally)

I swear, Owen would live on melon if he could. (Photo courtesy of my sister-in-law, Jenna)

Since it’s come up so often in the comments–and I’ve experienced it in my own family as well–I’m definitely going to tackle the issue of feeding picky eaters next week. But first, I want to ask you all some questions:

If you have or have had a picky eater in your house, what were his/her particular quirks? Only white food? No ‘green stuff’, pwease? An aversion to fruit? Avoidance of gritty, smushy or otherwise unpleasing textures?

If your child is older, did he or she grow out of the pickiness or does it seem here to stay?

Have you tried any tricks or strategies to get picky eaters to try new foods? Has it been successful?

Do you have a specific approach or philosophy when it comes to feeding choosy kids?

I have a lot to say on this topic, but want to do it justice (which means no dashed-off blog post in between other deadlines!) But I also want to hear from you all first–your concerns, your solutions, your questions–so I can keep them in mind while writing.

So tell me all about the picky eaters in your life!
