Summer vacation is about halfway over ’round these parts, and I have to admit we haven’t checked many things off of our summer bucket list. In fact, I haven’t even made a summer bucket list.
I was just reflecting that our typical summer follows a pretty predictable pattern: in June we get incredibly lazy and do just about nothing; in July we get busy and pack in lots of activity and travel, and then in August we enjoy slower, more traditional summer treats like the county fair, local festivals and barbecues.
Right now we’re smack-dab in the middle of the “activity and travel” period, with trips scheduled for several weekends in a row. But I am becoming uncomfortably aware that summer is running out!
Last month I wrote a post with my three best bits of advice for enjoying summer over at the Goldfish Smiles blog, and this is a good time for me to check in with it. I’d love for you to check it out, too, and let me know your secrets to a happier summer.
Bottom line? Go easy on yourself! Just because you have a list a mile long of things you could do this summer doesn’t mean you have to check every one off…Take it day by day, and remember to relax and enjoy yourself – it is summer, after all! Read the rest of the post
