What’s in the (CSA) box? Kohlrabi fries
by Meagan Francis on August 28, 2012
Just one week left of summer break here, which means I’ll be back to a more regular blogging schedule soon. But in the meanwhile, I’ve started a weekly series at HGTVGardens called “Mystery Box” – a feature where I’ll take an unusual or way-too-bountiful item from my CSA box, make something with it and share the results.
This week I made fries from Kohrabi, that veggie that looks like an alien ship. Get the recipe and photos here!

My husband would be so proud! He LOVES kholrabi. I, on the other hand, just munch it here and there trying to make him happy.
I’ll never forget the first time we got kohlrabi in our CSA box – it took hours of internet searching to figure out what it was! And then what to do with it! Delicious chopped up small with other vegies in a ratatouille, grated in a salad, and lots of other ways, so we discovered!
Can’t say I’ve ever made kohlrabi fries! We wanted to get a CSA but then realized we’d be traveling a lot this summer so we didn’t sign up. NEXT YEAR?!
