It’s been quiet around here since I posted yesterday about designing and organizing with your values in mind. I hope that means everybody’s been having a full, happy and restful weekend. Yesterday my mother-in-law took our kids all day, which gave us the chance to take care of some work around the house and host my brother John and sister-in-law Jenna for an adults-only steak dinner.
One of the projects I worked on: I created a seasonal table, something I’ve been meaning to do for a long time. It went from this:
to this…
in an hour or so, altogether. I can’t believe what a difference it makes in the room–and I love bringing nature indoors.
I’ll have more (and better-exposed) pics tomorrow and more information about the process of creating it.
What did you do this weekend? I hope it involved steaks, too. Or at least a good meal.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day here in Canada, so you know this weekend is ALL ABOUT the good meals. 🙂
Love the seasonal table! My kids do one – not as polished, but still fun.
I cleaned out my pantry today! Now I haven’t put labels yet…and mine’s not that big so it only took me about half an hour. But it was a disaster area so I feel much better…thanks for motivating me!
I also set up a fall nature table a couple of weeks ago. I had always wanted to do that and finally did it. It was more for the kids, so it remains messy, but it’s fun to have.

Amber, that’s right! I’d apologize for forgetting, but it’s nothing personal–I always forget when the US’s Thanksgiving is, too 🙂
I want to have a nature table lower down that the kids can access more easily. This is up too high for little arms to reach, so while they helped me gather the leaves and pinecones and arrange them on the table, it’s not something they can interact with very easily. This is more just eye candy for me 🙂
